The Board of Trustees is passionate about our mission to prepare scholars in the South Bronx to excel in college preparatory high schools. South Bronx Classical thanks these dedicated individuals for their support and guidance in fulfilling the goals of our charter.
C. Stephen Baldwin, Esq., Chair
Mr. Baldwin, currently a writer, has served as a population and development educator with the United Nations, Population Council, and Ford Foundation, as well as counsel with the United Nations, Executive Director of the Learning Disabilities Association of NYC, third grade teacher in the South Bronx, and independent arbitrator/mediator.
Kathryn Moore Heleniak, Vice Chair
Dr. Heleniak is an author and a professor of Art History at Fordham University. She was a residential fellow at the Ligurian Center for Arts and Humanities, a recipient of a Mellon Fellowship at the Yale Center for British Art, and was named an Outstanding Teacher in the Humanities at Fordham College.
Kevin Murphy, Secretary
Mr. Murphy is a technology teacher at P.S. 96 in East Harlem. Previously, he was an agent with Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company and a vice president at Morgan Guaranty Trust Company of New York.
William F. Higgins, Treasurer
Captain Higgins is founder and CEO of Higgins Group LLC, a real estate investment company. A U.S. Naval Academy graduate, Higgins served active duty and was Commander of Southern Command, a division of NY National Guard. He is also a former F.B.I. special agent.
Ingrid Bateman, Trustee
Ms. Bateman began her career at Boston Consulting Group, before working in the Venture Capital and software industries. Ms. Bateman holds an MBA from INSEAD and a BA from Dartmouth College.
Allison Fisch, Trustee
Ms. Fisch is a Principal and Portfolio Manager at Pzena Investment Management, where she manages emerging markets and international (ex-US) strategies. Previously, she served as an analyst at McKinsey & Co. Ms. Fisch holds a BA from Dartmouth College.
Larry Hirsch, Trustee
Mr. Hirsch is a senior CPD representative with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Previously, he served as director of government and community relations for the Neighborhood Housing Services of New York City as well as in various other housing and development roles.
James Maher, Trustee
Mr. Maher is a Vice President of Real Estate Acquisitions at BlackRock Kelso Capital Corporation, where he evaluates and underwrites potential real estate acquisitions in the New York metropolitan area. Mr. Maher received his Master’s Degree in Real Estate Finance & Investment in 2011 and his BA from Brown University in 2003
Ben Arabia, Trustee
Mr. Arabia joined the board in June 2017.
